Dog-Friendly USA Outings: A California Beach and Two National Parks
A US trip with a dog needs place-specific choices: the rules at a designated dog beach are very different from those at a national park. These three destinations offer distinct options for separate regional itineraries.

Rosie’s Dog Beach, Long Beach, California
The designated dog area lies between Granada and Roycroft avenues. Use the signed boundaries and posted hours rather than treating the whole Long Beach shoreline as off lead. This is a useful greater-Los-Angeles outing for a dog comfortable around other dogs; it is not Santa Monica Beach.

Acadia National Park, Maine
Acadia permits leashed pets on many trails and carriage roads, with important exclusions including some difficult ladder routes and restricted areas. Choose a permitted route from the National Park Service’s pet page before setting off. A six-foot maximum lead is required, and a shorter easy walk is a sensible first visit.
Location and visitor information
Grand Canyon South Rim, Arizona
Leashed pets can use trails above the South Rim, but cannot go below the rim or ride the park shuttle buses. That distinction changes the whole day: choose an above-rim route you can reach and return from without relying on a pet-accessible shuttle. Carry water and avoid hot pavement and strenuous heat exposure.

Put together a day that suits your dog
These destinations are in different parts of the United States and are not a single day-trip itinerary. Choose the one that fits your existing route and your dog’s fitness. If your SKYE PETS flight is through Los Angeles, use local Southern California options first; an East Coast or Arizona visit requires a separate travel plan.
