Question 1

Can my pet travel in the cabin with me?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SKYE PETS flights are designed to keep pets and their owners together. Your dog or cat travels with you in the cabin throughout the journey, never in the cargo hold, allowing you to enjoy the comfort and reassurance of travelling side by side.

Question 2

What routes do you currently operate?

Accepted Answer

We currently operate routes between Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Dubai and the United States. Visit our Flight Routes page to explore our scheduled departures and upcoming journeys.

Question 3

What does shared charter mean?

Accepted Answer

A shared charter allows multiple families travelling the same route to share the cost of a dedicated private charter aircraft. Rather than chartering an entire aircraft yourself, you simply book the seats you need, making premium in-cabin pet travel significantly more accessible than a full private charter.

Question 4

What type of aircraft do you use?

Accepted Answer

For our long-haul international journeys, we primarily operate our Airbus A319 ACJ, configured to provide a spacious and comfortable in-cabin environment for pets and their owners. For selected regional routes, including Australia and New Zealand, we also utilise aircraft such as the Phenom 300 and Learjet 45.

Question 5

Do you fly from private terminals?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every SKYE PETS flight departs from and arrives at private terminals, providing a quieter, more comfortable alternative to busy commercial airport terminals. This allows for a smoother check-in experience and helps minimise stress for both pets and their owners.

Question 6

What happens during refuelling stops?

Accepted Answer

During scheduled refuelling stops, all passengers and pets remain comfortably onboard the aircraft. Our crew will keep you informed throughout the stop and ensure everyone remains comfortable while the aircraft is prepared for the next stage of the journey.

Question 7

Are aggressive dogs permitted on SKYE PETS flights?

Accepted Answer

No. Aggressive dogs cannot be accepted on SKYE PETS flights. As our journeys are shared with other families and their pets, every dog must be able to travel safely within the cabin environment. If a pet is assessed on the day of departure as unsuitable due to aggressive behaviour, boarding may be refused and the booking forfeited in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

Question 8

My dog is reactive. Can they still travel?

Accepted Answer

Possibly. Reactivity is different from aggression, and many reactive dogs travel successfully with SKYE PETS. Every pet is assessed individually, taking into account temperament, behavioural history and management strategies. Our team will work with you to determine whether the journey is suitable and carefully plan seating where appropriate.

Question 9

Can anxious or nervous pets travel?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many pets travelling with SKYE PETS experience some level of travel anxiety and complete their journey successfully. We recommend discussing your travel plans with your veterinarian before departure, who may suggest calming strategies, behavioural support or medication where appropriate.

Question 10

Is Wi-Fi available onboard?

Accepted Answer

No. Wi-Fi is not currently available aboard the aircraft that operate our flights.

Question 11

Can I travel without a pet?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You are welcome to purchase a ticket and travel on any SKYE PETS flight, even if you are not travelling with a pet.

Question 12

Can my pet travel without me?

Accepted Answer

No. Every pet must travel with a responsible adult booked on the same flight. If you are unable to travel yourself, a trusted family member, friend or nominated companion may accompany your pet on your behalf.

Question 13

Are children permitted onboard?

Accepted Answer

For safety reasons, children under the age of 16 are not permitted to travel on SKYE PETS flights. Passengers aged 16 and 17 are welcome onboard but must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18 years or over.

Question 14

Does my dog get their own seat?

Accepted Answer

Each booking includes one passenger seat. Dogs typically travel in the footwell of your seat or on your lap, depending on their size and your preference. If you would like additional space for your pet, you are welcome to purchase a second seat.

Question 15

What pets can travel with SKYE PETS?

Accepted Answer

SKYE PETS only transports dogs and cats on all of our routes. We do not fly rabbits, birds, reptiles, rodents or any other animals.

Question 16

Do you fly animals other than dogs and cats?

Accepted Answer

No. SKYE PETS only transports dogs and cats on every route we operate, including all international and regional flights. We do not accept rabbits, birds, reptiles, rodents or any other species.

Question 17

Are brachycephalic (snub-nosed) breeds permitted?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Unlike many commercial airlines, SKYE PETS welcomes brachycephalic breeds, including both dogs and cats. We do not have breed restrictions, provided your pet is healthy to travel and meets the import requirements of the destination country. We recommend discussing fitness to travel with your veterinarian and, where appropriate, obtaining a BOAS assessment before departure.

Question 18

How does my pet travel onboard?

Accepted Answer

On our long-haul international flights, dogs travel in a SKYE PETS travel crate during taxi, take-off and landing. Once the seatbelt sign is off, they may join you at your seat. Cats travel in a rigid in-cabin travel crate supplied by SKYE PETS throughout long-haul flights. On our Australia and New Zealand services, pets travel alongside you in the cabin without onboard travel crates.

Question 19

What are the weight limits for pets?

Accepted Answer

Pet weight limits vary depending on the aircraft, route and ticket type selected. Please refer to the Flight Route page for your chosen journey, where you will find the applicable weight limits and ticket options. The Ticket Calculator on the Flight Route page recommends the most suitable option based on your pet's weight and the number of pets travelling.

Question 20

How many pets can I bring?

Accepted Answer

Each booking includes one passenger travelling with either one pet or two pets from the same household, depending on the ticket selected. Weight allowances vary by route and ticket type. Use the Ticket Calculator on each Flight Route page to find the most suitable ticket combination. If you are travelling with more pets than a single ticket allows, additional tickets may be required.

Question 21

Will my pet need to go into quarantine on arrival?

Accepted Answer

Quarantine requirements vary depending on your departure and destination countries. Some routes require no quarantine, while others may have mandatory quarantine periods on arrival. Please refer to the Flight Route page for your selected journey. Our team will guide you through all import requirements before departure.

Question 22

What documentation will my pet need?

Accepted Answer

Documentation requirements vary depending on your destination country. Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive access to your personalised Pet Portal, which provides a step-by-step checklist of everything required for your journey. Our team will guide you through the process from start to finish.

Question 23

Where will my pet go to the toilet during the flight?

Accepted Answer

On long-haul flights, a designated onboard toileting area is available for dogs, complete with absorbent toilet pads and real grass patches. Cats remain comfortably in their crate throughout the journey, with a disposable litter tray provided. We recommend feeding your pet their last full meal at least four to six hours before departure to minimise travel sickness.

Question 24

Can I feed my pet during the flight?

Accepted Answer

We recommend that pets do not eat a full meal during the flight. Travelling on a full stomach may increase the likelihood of motion sickness, bloating or needing to toilet. Small treats or a chew are perfectly acceptable, and fresh water is available throughout the journey.

Question 25

What should I bring for my pet?

Accepted Answer

Dogs should travel wearing a well-fitted harness and lead. You are welcome to bring a favourite blanket, toy or chew to help your pet feel relaxed. Cats should travel in a soft-sided carrier for boarding and disembarkation. Every pet also receives a complimentary SKYE PETS travel bag, including a water bottle, collapsible bowl, blanket, waste bags, pet wipes and treats.

Question 26

Can I bring pet food internationally?

Accepted Answer

Many countries have strict biosecurity regulations that prohibit travellers from bringing meat or dairy-based pet food across the border, including dry, wet and frozen food. We generally recommend arranging your pet's food at your destination to avoid delays or confiscation during customs clearance.

Question 27

How much does a ticket cost?

Accepted Answer

Ticket prices vary depending on the route and ticket type selected. Visit the Flight Routes page to view current departures, pricing and ticket options for your chosen journey.

Question 28

What ticket types are available?

Accepted Answer

Ticket types vary depending on the aircraft and route. Visit your selected Flight Route page to view the available ticket options, weight allowances and use the Ticket Calculator to determine the most suitable ticket for your journey.

Question 29

How do I make a booking?

Accepted Answer

Select your preferred journey from the Flight Routes page and submit a booking request. Once we have reviewed your passenger and pet details, we will confirm suitability for the selected flight and issue your invoice. Once payment has been received, your booking will be confirmed and you will receive access to your personalised Pet Portal.

Question 30

When is payment required?

Accepted Answer

Full payment is required to secure your booking. Once your booking request has been reviewed and approved, we will issue your invoice. Your seat is confirmed once payment has been received.

Question 31

What currency are prices displayed in?

Accepted Answer

Ticket prices are displayed in either AUD or USD, depending on the route. The applicable currency is clearly shown on each Flight Route page before you submit your booking request.

Question 32

Question 33

What is your cancellation policy?

Question 34

Do you offer bespoke or private charters?

Accepted Answer

Question 35

What is the Pet Portal?

The SKYE PETS Pet Portal is your personalised travel hub, designed to guide you through every stage of your journey. Once your booking is confirmed, you receive access to a tailored checklist, document uploads, appointment reminders, important travel updates and direct communication with the SKYE PETS team.

Question 36

Is SKYE PETS a licensed air carrier?

Accepted Answer

SKYE PETS is a public charter operator, not a direct air carrier. Our flights are operated by carefully selected, licensed commercial air carriers that meet all applicable aviation regulations and safety requirements.

Question 37

Is SKYE PETS authorised to operate flights to the United States?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SKYE PETS is registered with the United States Department of Transportation (US DOT) under Part 380 as a foreign public charter operator. This authorises us to market and sell seats on eligible public charter flights to and from the United States in accordance with all applicable US aviation and consumer protection regulations.
