Singapore Pet Import Rules: Origin, Quarantine and Documents

Does a pet from Australia or the UK need Singapore quarantine? Normally no, when it fully qualifies for AVS Schedule I. A ten-day quarantine and a rabies titre test are not universal requirements for this route.

Start with your pet’s country history

AVS classifies exporting countries in three schedules. Check where your dog or cat has lived, any travel or transit, and whether the movement qualifies as a personal pet import. Do this before paying for tests or accommodation.

Schedule I: Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland

The Schedule I conditions provide a pathway without routine rabies vaccination, rabies serology or quarantine for fully compliant pets. Residence must meet the six-month/since-birth condition. Microchip identification, relevant core vaccinations, pet and import licensing, certification, parasite treatments and arrival inspection still matter. Pets must be at least 12 weeks old at export.

Schedule II and Schedule III are different

Schedule II includes the United States. Quarantine exemption for a personal pet depends on conditions including living with the owner for more than six months and arriving within five days of the owner. Otherwise an approved ten-day home-quarantine pathway can apply; commercial imports have different arrangements. Obtain AVS confirmation for your case.

Schedule III includes the UAE and requires at least 30 days at the Animal Quarantine Centre. Schedules II and III require rabies vaccination and serology: the blood sample must be taken at least 28 days after vaccination, at least 90 days and no more than 12 months before export. Use the relevant schedule to check every condition and reserve any required quarantine space.

Book the final steps against the departure date

AVS lists normal import-licence processing as two working days after complete submission, or one working day for express service. An issued licence is valid for 90 days; this is not the total preparation time. Schedule I requires a veterinary examination within seven days of export and internal/external parasite treatment two to seven days before export. Book arrival inspection at least five working days ahead.

Confirm the current dog or cat licence, housing eligibility and breed restrictions before committing to a move. In-cabin transport does not change government entry conditions, and transit arrangements must preserve eligibility under the applicable schedule.
