Skye, Roux and Jazz: The Three Dogs Who Inspired SKYE PETS

Our story began in 2021 with a family move and three much-loved dogs. Here is how finding a way to travel together became SKYE PETS.

SKYE PETS began with three dogs: Skye, Roux and Jazz. In 2021, we were trying to find a practical way to relocate our family internationally while keeping them with us in the cabin. Finding that option proved much harder than we expected.

The dogs were part of every decision about the move. We wanted a journey that allowed us to stay close to them, rather than planning our own travel first and trying to fit theirs around it. When we could not find the arrangement we needed, we set about creating one.

A personal move became a shared idea

What started as a solution for our own family soon connected us with other pet owners facing the same problem. Some had dogs too large for a commercial airline’s under-seat carrier. Others were dealing with breed restrictions, health concerns or anxiety about separation. Their circumstances differed, but the wish to travel together was familiar.

That response shaped SKYE PETS. A private aircraft booked by one family can be out of reach for many people. Bringing families together on a shared charter creates a different way to arrange the journey: people reserve places on the same flight, with pets travelling in the passenger cabin alongside them.

Skye, Roux and Jazz are the reason this story exists. These are the family photographs featured on our About Us page, and they belong here too. Behind the routes, aircraft arrangements and paperwork is the experience of trying to move three much-loved dogs and wanting to do it in a way that felt right for them.

What that experience taught us

A pet’s journey starts well before boarding. There is the veterinary preparation, the question of where everyone will stay, the equipment that needs to feel familiar and the transfer at each end. Owners need useful answers to those everyday questions as well as a seat on an aircraft.

We also know that staying together on the flight is one part of a bigger move. Import conditions, individual health needs and quarantine arrangements still matter. Our experience made us want to help families understand that whole journey, so they can make informed plans for the animals who depend on them.

Still a family story

SKYE PETS has grown beyond the move that started it, with shared charter routes connecting pet families internationally. The original reason has stayed the same: helping people travel with the pets they regard as family.

For us, that always comes back to Skye, Roux and Jazz. They turned a difficult relocation question into the beginning of SKYE PETS.
