Things To Do with Your Dog in Singapore: Parks, Runs & Cafés

Singapore's rules-based reputation can make it seem restrictive for dog owners, but the reality is a city with excellent dog infrastructure, a thriving community of pet owners, and more green space than its density might suggest. Here's how to explore Singapore with your dog.

Off-Leash Dog Runs

Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park

Singapore's most beloved dog run, set within one of the island's finest parks alongside the naturalised Kallang River. The run is fenced, well-maintained and popular enough that your dog will always have company. The surrounding park's restored river habitat is beautiful. Go before 8am to beat the heat and the crowds.

East Coast Park Dog Run (Area E7)

A seafront dog run on Singapore's south coast. Combine the off-leash run with a walk along the East Coast Park Parkway for a longer outing. The beach adjacent to the park is not officially off-leash but early morning access is generally tolerated by other park users.

Jurong Lake Gardens Dog Run

One of Singapore's newer dog runs, within the recently opened Jurong Lake Gardens, National Gardens of Singapore in the west. Modern facilities, good shade structures, and excellent water access. Less crowded than the central and eastern runs.

Parks & Walking Trails

Southern Ridges Trail

A 10km elevated trail connecting Mount Faber, Telok Blangah Hill and Kent Ridge Park. Dogs on leads throughout. The Henderson Waves bridge (Singapore's highest pedestrian bridge) is a highlight, and the forest sections provide welcome shade. Start at HarbourFront MRT and finish at Pasir Panjang.

MacRitchie Reservoir Park

Singapore's most atmospheric reservoir park, with forested trails, boardwalks and a reservoir loop. Dogs on leads throughout. The TreeTop Walk suspension bridge does NOT allow dogs, but the reservoir loop trail is excellent for an hour's walk in genuine secondary forest. Watch for monitor lizards.

Dog-Friendly Cafés

Dempsey Hill

Singapore's most celebrated pet-friendly dining precinct, a cluster of restaurants and cafés in converted British colonial barracks, surrounded by mature rain trees. Multiple venues welcome dogs at outdoor tables, making it the standard Sunday outing for Singapore's dog community. Try PS.Café, The Dempsey Cookhouse & Bar, or Colbar for the most dog-welcoming atmosphere.

Holland Village

A popular expat neighbourhood with several cafés along Lorong Liput and Lorong Mambong that welcome dogs at outdoor seating. Combine with a morning walk at the nearby Holland Road Playing Field.
