Australia has strict biosecurity requirements for importing dogs and cats administered by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF). Pets may require an ISO-compatible microchip, rabies vaccination and antibody testing, a DAFF import permit, veterinary examinations, parasite treatments, government-endorsed health certificates and post-entry quarantine at Mickleham. Pets travelling from New Zealand follow a simpler pathway and do not normally require post-entry quarantine.
New Zealand's Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) administers pet import requirements. Pets may require microchipping, core vaccinations, rabies vaccination and antibody testing, an MPI import permit, veterinary examinations, parasite treatments, health certificates and quarantine at an MPI-approved facility. Pets travelling directly from Australia generally do not require routine quarantine when all entry conditions are met.
Dogs and cats travelling to Great Britain require an ISO-compatible microchip, a valid rabies vaccination, a Great Britain pet health certificate, and tapeworm treatment for dogs. Pets that meet all requirements can normally enter Great Britain without quarantine.
The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) requires an ISO-compatible microchip, valid rabies vaccination, core vaccinations for dogs and cats, leptospirosis vaccination or testing where applicable, internal and external parasite treatment, a MOCCAE import permit and an official veterinary health certificate. Breed restrictions may apply.
Singapore's Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) classifies countries by rabies-risk. Pets from London and Melbourne follow Schedule I and do not normally require rabies preparation or quarantine. Pets from Dubai follow Schedule III and require rabies preparation and quarantine. Requirements include microchipping, core vaccinations, an AVS import licence and an official health certificate.
Dogs entering the United States must be at least six months old, have a detectable microchip, and a completed CDC Dog Import Form. Dogs with recent travel to high-risk countries require additional rabies documentation. Cats must appear healthy on arrival. Additional state requirements may apply.
