Things To Do with Your Dog in Dubai: The Complete Guide

Dubai's dog scene is bigger than you'd expect. Dedicated dog parks, pet-friendly beach clubs, and a growing café culture welcoming pets. Here's everything you need to know.

Dubai's dog community is larger and more active than most visitors expect. The city's expatriate population, which makes up over 88% of Dubai's residents, has brought strong pet ownership culture, and Dubai's infrastructure has responded. Here's how to make the most of the city with your dog.

Dog Parks

Mushrif Park Dog Run

Dubai's most popular dedicated dog run, a large fenced off-leash area within Mushrif Park's broader grounds. The park's trees provide more shade than most Dubai green spaces, making it usable for longer in the morning. Open daily with a park entry fee. Dogs must be vaccinated and the facility is clean and well-maintained.

Safa Park Dog Area

A dedicated dog area within Safa Park, one of Dubai's older and greener parks. Less well-known than Mushrif but popular with residents of the Jumeirah and Al Wasl area. The park's tree coverage is good by Dubai standards.

Creek Harbour Dog Park

A newer dog park in Dubai's Creek Harbour development, with modern facilities, good shade structures, and water stations. Popular with residents of the Downtown and Business Bay areas.

Beaches

Kite Beach Pet Zone

The only officially designated dog beach area in Dubai — a specific section at the northern end of Kite Beach. Go before 7am in summer, or before 8am the rest of the year. The adjacent boardwalk is also accessible with dogs on leads and has water stations and café stops.

Outdoor Experiences

Al Qudra Lakes at Sunrise

A series of man-made lakes in the desert 40km south of Dubai, surrounded by flamingos and migratory birds. Best visited at sunrise — the light on the desert is extraordinary. Carry plenty of water for you and your dog, and leave before 8am in summer months. Dogs on leads throughout.

Dubai Canal Walk

The Dubai Water Canal promenade runs through the heart of the city from Business Bay to the Gulf, with 3km of waterfront walkway and views of the Dubai skyline. Well-lit and accessible in the evenings, making it one of the few comfortable evening options in summer. Dogs on leads throughout.

From May to September, all outdoor exercise for dogs should happen before 7am or after 8pm. Ground temperatures can exceed 70°C in direct summer sun — capable of burning paw pads within minutes. Carry water at all times.

  • All dogs must be leashed in public spaces — fines apply for violations
  • Dubai Municipality requires dogs to be licensed and vaccinated
  • Pork-based pet food is available but less widely stocked, so bring supplies if your pet has a specific diet
  • Most Dubai malls do not permit pets, so check before visiting
