Taking Your Dog from Dubai to the UK for Summer: Plan Both Journeys

A summer in the UK with your dog starts with two journeys: leaving Dubai and coming home again. Planning them together helps you choose workable dates, organise veterinary appointments and understand the total cost before committing to your trip.

When should you start planning?

Start when your summer plans begin to take shape. Give the team your preferred departure and return windows, alongside any dates you cannot move. A flexible week is more useful than a single date when matching your plans to a shared charter.

For example, a family considering late June or July in the UK might explore a late August or September return. Those are planning examples, not an advertised SKYE PETS schedule. Your school calendar, leave dates, pet's preparation and confirmed flight availability should determine the final itinerary.

Before paying for other bookings, establish whether the proposed departure is confirmed, what your reservation secures and what happens if the schedule changes.

Check your dog's entry requirements for Great Britain

London falls under Great Britain's pet entry rules, covering England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland has separate guidance. The official GOV.UK pet travel guide requires an approved route, a microchip placed before rabies vaccination and the correct travel document. The waiting period after an initial rabies vaccination is at least 21 full days and depends on the vaccine.

Dogs arriving from Dubai need veterinary tapeworm treatment within 24 hours to five days before arrival. Also check breed restrictions and whether additional rules apply, including when ownership changes or your pet travels more than five days apart from you. Ask your vet to confirm the requirements for your dog's records and travel history.

Plan the return to Dubai before you leave

A return flight is a separate booking and a separate document check. Ask about the London to Dubai pet charter route at the same time as your outbound enquiry.

MOCCAE's pet import guidance requires a permit for returning resident pets. Its return conditions include a ministry veterinary health certificate before leaving the UAE, microchip identification, an endorsed health certificate from the exporting country and rabies vaccination remaining valid through the return. A lapsed vaccination changes the applicable pathway.

Arrange access to a vet in the UK who can handle export certification. Keep your UAE departure records with your dog's other documents, and put any vaccination expiry dates into your calendar before travelling.

What should you ask about the charter?

• Which airports and terminals will the flight use, and are any stops planned?
• What cabin space, restraint or carrier arrangements apply to your dog?
• Which veterinary, permit, handling and transfer costs are included in the quote?
• What are the payment, cancellation and schedule-change terms for each direction?
• Who checks the documents, and when must you supply them?

Send your dog's breed, age, weight and measurements with your enquiry. If you are travelling with more than one pet, give details for each animal so the team can assess the complete booking.

Make the UK stay work for your dog

Get written confirmation that your accommodation accepts your dog's breed and size. Check any restrictions on leaving pets unattended and arrange a transfer that can accommodate your dog and luggage. A familiar bed, usual food where permitted and a quiet first evening can make your arrival easier to organise.
